Background and Current Role
As a Senior Software Development Engineer at Cardinal Health, I have been leading the development and enhancement of critical applications—Order Express and Order Entry—under the Pharmaceutical Modernization (PMOD) Phase 2 initiative since March 2019. My expertise in modern software development, system integration, and automation has been instrumental in transforming legacy pharmaceutical ordering systems into scalable, efficient, and user-friendly applications.
Cardinal Health, a Fortune 500 company, is a leading provider of healthcare services and products, supplying pharmaceuticals and medical products to over 100,000 locations. As part of the PMOD initiative, my role focuses on modernizing key applications to improve operational efficiency, customer experience, and overall business impact. This project spans multiple business units, including Pharmaceutical Distribution (PD), Kinray, Specialty Pharmaceutical Distribution (SPD), and Metro Medical (MM).
Notable Achievement
A key milestone in this initiative has been the successful migration of Cardinal Health’s legacy ordering systems into a unified, modern platform, improving operational efficiency and reducing manual intervention. The implementation of advanced technologies such as Angular, Salesforce, Java Spring Boot, SAP HANA, and Apigee has significantly enhanced system responsiveness and performance.
Innovative Solution
Order Express and Order Entry applications were modernized to provide real-time product availability, dynamic pricing, and seamless integration with SAP HANA. This solution not only streamlined ordering processes but also improved system performance, reducing data retrieval times to under six seconds.
Impact and Business Value
By reducing system inefficiencies and automating manual processes, this initiative is projected to save over $20 million over five years. The applications serve thousands of users, including major pharmacy chains like CVS and Walgreens, enhancing order processing efficiency and customer satisfaction. My contributions in modernizing Cardinal Health’s pharmaceutical ordering systems make me a strong candidate for recognition in the IT category.
