Over the past year, Will Wangen has distinguished himself as a licensed professional engineer, mentor, and leader who has transformed the Electrical Engineering Department at FourFront Design into one of the company’s most capable and forward-thinking teams. His leadership is defined not only by technical excellence but by his unwavering commitment to developing others.
Under Will’s guidance, his team has reached several professional milestones that reflect both individual dedication and a culture of growth he actively fosters. Team members have earned an electrician license in South Dakota, achieved NICET Level I certification for Fire Alarms, and are nearing completion of a Registered Communications Distribution Designer certification. These accomplishments are a direct result of Will’s mentorship and his belief that investing in professional development strengthens both the individual and the organization. By encouraging and supporting these goals, he has elevated the department’s expertise and deepened FourFront Design’s reputation for excellence.
Will’s impact also extends beyond the company. Clients, particularly at VA hospitals, now regularly seek his expertise. On a recent data center project, a contracting officer specifically requested his involvement to resolve a critical backup power issue. Will identified a shift in the facility’s electrical load and led the implementation of an automatic transfer switch, ensuring uninterrupted power and preventing system failure. His ability to solve high-stakes challenges under pressure highlights both his technical skill and leadership.
Internally, Will has built lasting strength through structure and innovation. He initiated a quality control program that promotes overlapping responsibilities, cross-training, and shared accountability. This system has created a resilient, adaptable team with deep technical knowledge and strong collaboration. Will’s leadership has not only advanced the department—it has built a foundation for sustained success.
